THE party with the most number of seats will decide who will be the new Sabah chief minister, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, hours after Perikatan Nasional (PN) continued to push its own man for the post.

“Let’s not talk about who will be CM now. Let us win first and then let the assemblymen choose the new CM.

“But remember, that the party with the most number of seats will decide who will be CM,” said the Umno president in a ceramah in Putatan tonight.

Zahid was speaking to a crowd of more than 100 people gathered at one of Barisan Nasional’s elections centres for the Tg Keramat seat.

Tg Keramat is being contested by Umno’s Shahelmey Yahya.

Earlier today, PN leader Mohamed Azmin Ali said that the coalition will nominate Bersatu Sabah chief Hajiji Mohd Noor as the next chief minister if the opposition grouping Gabungan Rakyat Sabah wins the state elections.

But this goes against Barisan Nasional (BN), who have similarly said they wish to install Sabah BN and Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin as the chief minister.

BN is contesting 41 seats while PN, which consists of Bersatu, PAS, SAPP and Star, are contesting 29. Another friendly ally, PBS, is contesting 22 seats in the 73-seat state elections. – September 15, 2020.
