LET Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin decide whether it’s Hajiji Mohd Noor or Bung Moktar Radin who will lead Sabah if Perikatan Nasional (PN) wins the state elections, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is the environment and water minister, was speaking on the sidelines of a Barisan Nasional (BN) ceramah for the Tg Keramat state seat in Putatan.
Besides the candidate, Shahelmey Yahya, the event also saw Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi attending.
PAS, Umno and Bersatu are all part of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, the rival bloc to Warisan Plus in the Sabah polls on September 26.
PAS is also part of the PN coalition, which includes Bersatu, and which Umno has refused to join. PAS is also partnering with Umno in the Muafakat Nasional pact.
The Islamist party is caught in the middle as Muhyiddin has stated that PN wants Hajiji as Sabah chief minister. However, Umno and BN want their Sabah chief, Bung Mokhtar, to lead the state.
Although the PAS has not stated its stand in the chief minister dispute, the latest from Bersatu to call for Hajiji to be given the post is Mohamed Azmin Ali, who reiterated in Tuaran today that PN will install Hajiji if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah wins the elections.
During tonight’s ceramah, Tuan Ibrahim said PAS, which is not contesting in the polls, will support all candidates from PN and BN.
“We want to reassure Umno that all the PAS voters will back the BN candidates. At the same time, PAS will also support all the candidates from PN.” – September 15, 2020.
