THE Kota Setar district in Kedah will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) after a spike in Covid-19 cases, said Senior Minister (Defence) Ismail Sabri Yaakob
The EMCO will be enforced starting 12am tomorrow until September 25, he said.
Ismail Sabri said the decision was made after a spike of cases within the Telaga and Sungai clusters, bringing the tally in the district to 30 so far.
“A total of 366,787 people in 28 townships will be affected by this,” he told a press briefing today.
Meanwhile, the EMCO for areas in Aman Jaya, Kedah, including Kenanga, Mawar and Melur, has been extended until Sunday.
Ismail Sabri said this is to ensure that the Health Ministry has completed testing on all residents.
The minister also said that Tawau Prison will be placed under EMCO until September 25.
However, the lockdown will only affect inmates, prison staff and their family members who live in the prison area.
Screening will involve prisoners, 114 officers and 355 family members of the local police department.
