SINGAPORE’S Immigration officers have detained three Malaysian men, aged between 22 and 29, for attempting to swim into the republic, reported the Straits Times.
The trio were detained late Saturday after officers from Singapore’s Police Coast Guard caught sight of them swimming towards the republic and intercepted them, said the report.
Under the republic’s Immigration Act, penalties for illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months and a minimum of three strokes of the cane. – December 11, 2017.
