IT is believed that M. Indira Gandhi’s ex-husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, is constantly on the move abroad to evade detection, said Deputy Home Minister Ismail Mohamed Said today.

“Police are working with the authorities in a neighbouring country to identify his location.

“The force will take legal action if the subject (Riduan) returns to Malaysia.”

He was speaking during a motion brought by Charles Santiago (PH-Klang) on the status of the case in Parliament’s special chambers.

Indira has been fighting to be reunited with her youngest child, Prasana Diksa, who was taken away by Riduan in 2009.

Ismail said police have visited all the addresses where Riduan had lived based on National Registration Department records.

“The subject has been declared a wanted individual by police.”

He said Riduan has also been blacklisted by the Immigration Department.

“Police have carried out various efforts to trace the subject, including working with the neighbouring country.”

These efforts will continue until Riduan and Prasana are found, he said.

Riduan fled with the child when she was only 11 months old, following his conversion to Islam.

In 2016, the Federal Court ordered then inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to arrest Riduan and comply with the mandamus order issued by the Ipoh High Court two years earlier to retrieve Prasana.

In January 2018, the apex court overturned Riduan’s unilateral conversion of Prasana and her two older siblings to Islam. – Bernama, August 17, 2020.
