THE Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) today refuted Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin’s claim that Indira’s Muslim convert ex-husband, Muhammad Ridzuan Abdullah was no longer in the country.

Ingat chairman Arun Doraisamy said the team had traced Ridzuan’s whereabouts to somewhere within the southern border region and northern Malaysia.

“Ingat would like to strongly refute the excuses given by the Home Ministry that it is difficult to track Ridzuan who is not in the country. Unless hidden hands are protecting him, we strongly believe Prasana is in the country,” Arun said in a statement today.

The court has ordered Ridzuan to cede custody of his daughter, Prasana Diksa to Indira, the mother. Ridzuan took Prasana away in 2009 when she was 11 months old, shortly after he converted to Islam.

He also converted their three children without Indira’s knowledge.

Last year, the Federal Court ruled that the unilateral conversions of the children were unlawful.

Arun today said Ridzuan’s passport expired in 2019.

“He has been travelling to Thailand using his MyKad and there are records of telephone call from him to his new wife in the northern region since last year.”

“The last time he was sighted was at the Penang Road Transport Department in 2017. Before that the cops had issued him a compound for a traffic violation in 2016 in Tanah Merah Kelantan.”

“We managed to confirm his presence (in Thailand) with Thai police officers. Why hasn’t a request been made till now to Thailand police to track Ridzuan or for their assistance?”

Yesterday, Hamzah said Ridzuan was no longer in the country and that he was on the move to avoid detection.

In a written reply to Wangsa Maju MP Dr Tan Yee Kew, Hamzah said police had visited the Ridzuan’s addresses as listed with the National Registration Department and found that he no longer lived at those places.

Arun reminded Hamzah that Prasana could not travel abroad as she did not have an international passport.

“Prasana does not have her MyKid (identification card) as the original is with her mother. The Immigration Department has confirmed that no passport was issued for Prasana Diksa. How can she travel out of the country?”

Indira in a recent interview with The Malaysian Insight slammed Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador for refusing to meet her.

The mother said that she would stage a hunger strike if the top cop did not meet her before August 31. – August 12, 2020.
