M. INDIRA Gandhi has sent a third letter to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador seeking updates on her daughter, whom she has not seen for more than a decade.

The last letter to the IGP was sent on Monday, requesting for a meeting. This was after Hamid had promised the former kindergarten teacher a “happy ending” in her quest to be reunited with her daughter Prasana Diksa.

Indira Gandhi told The Malaysian Insight the IGP must keep his word in reuniting her with her daughter, adding that she hopes to meet him soon for updates on the search for Prasana.

“We are hopeful that he will agree to meet us. We look forward to seeing him after the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period,” she said.

In January, Hamid said police have intensified their efforts to locate the missing girl, who is believed to be with her father, who divorced her mother.

He reiterated that he has taken a personal interest in this case and assured Indira Gandhi of a “happy ending”.

“I give my guarantee to Malaysians that that it will end well. I want a happy ending for all – the mother, father and the girl.

“We also want to ensure that the future of the girl is well taken care of,” he had said.

Indira Gandhi said they are in the dark as they don’t have any details of Prasana’s wellbeing.

“We don’t have any details of her. We hope she is well.”

Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) chairman Arun Dorasamy said they have again sent an official letter to Hamid on Monday requesting a meeting.

“IGP (Hamid) said that there is a happy ending. We are looking forward to seeing the happy ending.

“Since June last year we have been asking for an appointment. We have sent three letters and we hope that he will see us,” he said.

He also added that the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) is also trying to help them get a meeting with the IGP.

Indira Gandhi wants Hamid to act on the 2014 Ipoh High Court mandamus order for the IGP to enforce the arrest warrant against her ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah and the recovery order to retrieve her child, Prasana.

Riduan took Prasana as a baby after he unilaterally converted the couple’s three children to Islam. He is now in defiance of a court order to return the child to her mother.

Although the court has granted her custody of her three children after ruling their conversion to be unlawful, Indira is yet to be reunited with her youngest child whose whereabouts are unknown. – June 28, 2020.
