RTD offers 70% off fines next month

THE Road Transport Department (RTD) is offering a 70% discount on summonses, in conjunction with the Merdeka month, said Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong.

He said the discount is given to all compoundable summonses issued by RTD and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).

“The offer from August 1 to 31 is given to all summonses issued for offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act (Act 334), Land Public Transport Act (Act 715) and Rules and Orders under, including cases that are still blacklisted,” he said in a Facebook post.

Wee said that the 70% reduction is offered based on the current compound rate available in the RTD system and which has been set for cases under the Act.

“The reduction of this summons is applicable in all RTD offices (state, branch and UTC) as well as other payment channels such as JPJ mySIKAP Portal, JPJ Kiosk and JPJ Mobile,” he said.

The discount is not applicable for summonses issued by the police. – July 29, 2020.

  • Time and time again this kind of weird discount just makes those who paid promptly look so stupid. Is there any wonder why more and more will become wiser and just wait for the discount.
