MORE than half of Malaysian Facebook users said they are in favour of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail leading the country if it means ousting Prime Minister Najib Razak and the Barisan Nasional government.

The Malaysian Insight held a Facebook poll yesterday asking users if they agreed with Pakatan Harapan’s proposed leaders if they win Putrajaya in the 14th general election.

After a 24-hour polling period, as many as 1,517 people voted. Of the total, 872 (57%) users said “yes” while 645 (43%) said “no”.

A similar poll was held on Twitter where 107 people (48%) voted for the Dr Mahathir-Wan Azizah pairing as opposed to 115 (52%) who didn’t during the six-hour voting window.

Facebook users who voted for the Pakatan pairing seemed desperate to replace the current leadership. One user, Muhammad Iszam, said he would even vote for a cockroach if it meant changing the prime minister.

“Yes, even if you put a cockroach, I will vote for it. Najib must go,” he wrote in the comments section of the poll.

Similarly, Sharifah Eedurah Al-Qudsie supported Wan Azizah in the hopes of removing the current leaders.

“I say yes to Wan Azizah as long as Najib and the geng (are) out,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Tamil Arasan agreed with Pakatan’s strategy, saying, “For political strategy, I’m saying YES.”

Those who disagreed felt that the older generation should step back and take on a more advisory role, making way for new faces, such as Mohamed Azmin Ali or Rafizi Ramli.

“No. Be an elder and set the stage for the next batch now,” said Ndrew Teng.

Shawn Tan wanted someone younger and up to date.

“Please give me someone who knows how to use computers,” he wrote, measuring age against technological skill.

User Florence Yau preferred a leader among the people rather than the privileged class.

“No to Tun Dr M. I want someone who isn’t from a privileged family. Spoiled brats ruling a country will lead it to the dumps… Like now,” she said. – December 5, 2017.

  • The young voters are very idealistic. The election can't be won by Azmin, Rafizi, Nurul, Dyana, Mukhriz or even Mohamad Sabu and Muhyddin. Put in whatever names the young voters would like to see them lead the country, but no victory no young leaders. Understood!!!!! Its good to keep the beliefs and hopes that the country should be in the younger politician but sadly none has got what it takes to win an election. The wrinkle and battle hardened face of the old fox are the war maps and strategies thru out his whole life in the political areana. Najib is not just a simple and ordinary head of Umno as what we all are led to believe. He has learnt well by being silently stupid and remain low profile in all his portfolio tenure to grasp the weakness of all his colleagues and especially all the Premiers before him. Back up by his own iron lady he is very strong adversary and abundance of financial resources at his disposal. This is not a child game anymore and only an elderly fearsome figure with nothing to loose anymore will be able to play the game to the end with only a winner. No mercy and looser will not enjoy to recall why is it so!!!! . So all those young chicos please think and think seriously on your wish list. I would prefer for the one who is constrain by time and going all out for a last fight as the passion and the strong yearning to make a statement will ultimately make him a formidable challenger more so with him being already part of the Malaysian history. He knows that he is the man that caused all these ills and miseries and appologies are hard to come by for him to say it out loud BUT a collosal win and presenting it back to others will make amends in his own ways. Forget about the rubbish spew by Umno on his craze for power or making his son a PM . He will be too tired and no joy at all to remain around to keep his son in power . With all that is going on he knows much better the very fact that his son has to earn his own keeps to be a PM .Only if the shoes fit !!!!!!

  • Ha. Ha. Ha.
    Truly laughable.
This smacks of desperation..again, the people are tired of such politic of expediency and laziness. One should NEVER teach one's children that any means can justify the end. Your children will turn out just rotten. Remember, always. GET THE PRICESS RIGHT. the results will come. Using a discredited exPM of 22 yrs to win the GE? Ha ha ha.

  • The poll is untrue and deceptively corrupted of representation. Just look at the media poll conducted by the US media, Trump won not Hilary.
