DAP’S Rahang assemblyman Mary Josephine Prittam Singh has quit the party but will continue to support Pakatan Harapan in the Negri Sembilan assembly.
The two-term state lawmaker said she quit after being repeatedly side-lined from the DAP’s decision-making process.
“It is very painful. I have been with DAP for 46 years. I am still in support of the Pakatan Harapan government.
“I am resigning as DAP wanita national organising secretary, Harapan national women’s vice-chief, Negri Sembilan DAP wanita chief and Negri Sembilan Harapan deputy wanita chief,” she said during an emotional press conference today.
State DAP chairman Anthony Loke is scheduled to address the media today at 3pm over the resignation.
Mary Josephine said the decision is final but she would continue to serve her voters.
“I am resigning from DAP but I still support for the leadership of (Aminuddin Harun) in the state government.
“As a state assemblyperson, I still give my full support to the MB. He is a person that I fully respect and I will stay on to support Pakatan Harapan,” she said while declaring her support for the PH government.
Earlier today the Star reported that the 71-year-old veteran was walking out of the DAP after the state leadership did not endorse her choice of chairmen for the village community management councils announced by the state government on Wednesday.
With Mary Josephine’s departure, PH has 19 seats while Barisan Nasional has 16 in the state assembly. – July 10, 2020.
