THE Health Ministry said 98 voters were referred to treatment tents during the Chini by-election today.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said six voters were found to be symptomatic for Covid-19.

“(The six voters) were allowed to vote. One voter was referred to the health clinic for treatment,” he said in a statement.

Noor Hisham said voters who failed their temperature checks and showed symptoms casted their ballots in a tent with special standard operating procedures.

“The voters were then examined by the medical team for further action.

“A total of 140 health workers were present at 13 polling centres.”

He added that medical teams were on site to monitor the voting centres.

“Monitoring activities were carried out inside the polling centres to ensure voters adhered to SOPs.

“There were also medical teams working in the special tents to carry out temperature checks.” – July 4, 2020.

  • It is only to be expected that cases will be discovered or appear from time to time in different places. It reflects on the limited testing done. We simply cannot conduct blanket screening. Our approach has been cost effective and successful.
