DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today pledged to support Prime Minister Najib Razak’s efforts in uniting the nation.
Zahid said although Najib had been criticised from all sides, he had remained focused on promoting unity among Malaysians.
“I promise that I will continue to support him in translating his commitment,” Zahid said at the opening of the Malay Consultative Council’s (MPM) Wisma MPM Bina Daulah building in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said he and Najib would need the support of MPM to realise national unity.
Zahid also promised RM2,800 a month for MPM to help it pay its rent for the next 10 years.
“Of course when talking about a paradigm shift, there must be wise and good moral principles so that the unity among people of many races can be carried on by us to future generations.”
He said MPM could help by “thinking outside the box” to focus on the “country’s bigger agenda”.
“I only ask for one small thing, MPM should not group together and stick to ourselves only.
“There are other professionals outside… that can be brought into MPM to offer a check and balance,” he said.
Zahid had pledged his support for Najib in July in “ensuring that the symbol of moderation is incorporated in our system”. – December 2, 2017.
