DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today pledged his continued loyalty and support Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“I will ensure that the symbol of moderation is incorporated in our system.

“I also promise to continue to assist the prime minister as his deputy,” he said at the 2017 Zikir Perdana event at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur today.

Zahid was appointed as deputy prime minister exactly two years ago today when his predecessor Muhyiddin Yassin was purged from the Cabinet by Najib.

He made the pledge when one of the guests at the event unknowingly called him the prime minister.

The guest said “Thank you prime minister” to Zahid after he announced an allocation of RM1 million from an anonymous donor to develop a world class Sufi centre.

The Zikir event was attended by 130 muftis from United States, Canada and around the world.

During the event, Zahid also condemned the attack by Israel against the Palestinian people following the Al-Aqsa Mosque attack.

He added that it is not Malaysia’s stand to go against the Jews but to reject the Zionist regime that for decades had persecuted the Palestine people. – July 28, 2017.
