POLICE confiscated former deputy minister Hannah Yeoh’s handphone after she went to Bukit Aman to have her statement recorded over an alleged social media post.

Yeoh’s lawyer, Gobind Singh Deo told reporters, that he had no problem with the police confiscating the Segambut MP’s phone as they have pledged to cooperate with the cops.

“As we have said before, we will give our utmost cooperation. Yeoh’s phone was taken away in order to assist police investigation and we have no problem with that.

“If they need to call us again, we will come and assist,” said Gobind.

Yeoh’s statement was recorded this morning following a police report lodged against the former deputy minister in charge of women’s affairs over an alleged Facebook post criticising current deputy minister Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.

The post in question read: “Considering that the deputy minister of women and family development is from PAS, so marriage with minor (to permit sex with children) will spread after this. This is the disease of uncivilised Muslims in this country.”

The investigation was filed under the Sedition Act, Penal Code and the Communication and Multimedia Act.

Yeoh has since denounced the alleged statement, calling it fake.

“I reiterate once again that the statement in the poster is not mine and is fake,” Yeoh said in a statement last week.

Yeoh handed over the password to her Facebook and Twitter accounts to the police.

“We fully cooperated. I gave them my username and password for both Facebook and Twitter. If they need to call us again, we will assist.” – June 23, 2020.
