A NEW Covid-19 cluster has been identified in Sepang, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The health director-general said five positive cases have been detected in Labu Lanjut, all from the same family.

He said the index case of the cluster is a patient treated for acute respiratory infection at Serdang Hospital, where he was diagnosed on June 5.

The other four family members who tested positive include his two children and two grandchildren.

“Three of them lived in the same house while one is from another residence,” Noor Hisham said in the statement today.

He said 29 people have been identified as close contacts and 25 people have undergone screening so far.

Noor Hisham said all tests returned negative.

The cause of infection is still under investigation, he said, adding transmission of the virus is suspected to be related to visitation activity.

Malaysia recorded 76 recoveries and 21 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases now stands at 289. – June 20, 2020.
