The health director-general said this put the number of total recoveries at 8,146, or 95.2% of total infections.

Noor Hisham said over the last 24 hours, 21 new cases were detected, bringing the tally of infections to 8,556 cases in total.

Of the local transmissions, he said 12 involved Malaysians while seven involved foreigners.

The seven cases involving foreigners were in Kuala Lumpur. All are close contacts of a previous Covid-19 patient and all are housemates.

“Of the 12 local transmissions, 10 cases were detected in Selangor while one case was detected in Negri Sembilan and Sabah each,” he said in a statement today.

“Seven of the 10 cases in Selangor are from tahfiz schools and madrasah.

“The other three involve one from cluster Lanjut, which is a new cluster, one from the old folks’ home cluster in Kuala Selangor and one is a front-line worker, who is not a healthcare worker,” Noor Hisham said.

He added three patients are in intensive care units but none were on ventilators.
