MySejahtera app keeps crashing, say frustrated users

AFTER downloading MySejahtera to obtain the government’s offer of RM50 in e-wallet credits, many social media users are complaining that the app crashes before they can even register their details, while some said they gave up and uninstalled it due to the onerous amount of information required.

“I tried to register for #MySejahtera but failed because my request for OTP (one-time password) only got sent to me five hours later,” said @faezah_aiz on Twitter.

Another Twitter user, @IkaNordin, said she downloaded the app and requested the OTP last night, and still hasn’t received the password as of this afternoon.

“Is this MySejahtera app a scam or what,” she posted.

Another user, @bakhtiarbahrum7, complained about the application’s host server.

“Why is the hosting server so weak?? It’s taking a while for me to receive my TAC number,” he said.

@TheClaireKhoo tweeted that the app had too many bugs, while @sychside said he uninstalled it after less than a minute as there was too much information to fill in.

Tested by The Malaysian Insight, the app was slow and crashed during attempts to register.

The government is promoting the app to stores and consumers as a way to conduct contract tracing in the event of new Covid-19 infections.

It must be downloaded by Malaysians returning from abroad who are undergoing self-quarantine at home to monitor their movements, instead of staying at government quarantine centres.

The app is also compulsory if people want to receive RM50 in e-wallet credits in the form of vouchers, discounts and cashback, as announced on Sunday under the government’s short-term economic recovery or Penjana plan.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had yesterday said the e-wallet credits are meant to encourage citizens to download the app to enable contact tracing for Covid-19.

The RM50 e-wallet credits can only be used for offline for physical purchases, meaning users cannot use it for in-app services or online shopping.

The government has yet to reveal the list of supported e-wallets or the redemption process.

It was reported yesterday that many were unable to access the app due to a large number of users trying to sign up.

Some 700,000 registrations were made simultaneously in under a minute, the Health Ministry had said.

The ministry also took to its Twitter account to address the issue.

“The registration for the MySejahtera app is overloaded for now. Please try again after a few hours,” it said.

The government also issued a statement yesterday urging Malaysians to be patient while waiting for the MySejahtera app to be accessible to the public again.

The Penjana program will run from July until September and aims to benefit 15 million Malaysians.

The e-wallet initiative is only applicable to Malaysians aged 18 years old and above with an annual income of less than RM100,000 per year. – June 9, 2020.

  • This app is bought from Umno cronies. Tak boleh pakai. Satu app saja pun tak boleh pakai. Macam mana nak bagi mereka menguruskan negara.
