CHILD rapists should be poked with hot iron rods, a Barisan Nasional MP suggested today.
The proposal came a day after another BN parliamentarian Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) said drug dealers should be shot, which drew flak from a human rights activist and opposition politician.
“I propose, the man who did this, we heat an iron rod and poke him (with it) so that he knows how horrible it feels to be violated,” Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) said in Dewan Rakyat today.
“When a child is raped by a father or uncle, the whole family and siblings are also affected.”
He said the perpetrator must be taken to task for the cruelty he inflicted upon the child victim and family.
Bung Mokhtar yesterday said Malaysia should emulate Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s aggressive war on drug abuse, including shooting drug dealers and jailing addicts.
Bung Mokhtar said the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) should be dissolved for failing to curb the rise in the number of drug abusers in the country.
The two BN MPs’ proposals have drawn flak from opposition parliamentarian N. Surendran (PKR-Padang Serai).
“Poking with hot iron rods, shoot drug suspects – any more barbaric ideas from BN MPs?” the human rights lawyer and PKR vice-president said on Twitter today.
Surendran also shot down Bung Mokhtar’s proposal to shoot drug dealers yesterday: “That’s murder. What kind of MP is this who asks our police personnel to commit cold-blooded murder?” – November 29, 2017.
