MALAYSIANS in red zones have been urged by the Health Ministry not to undertake unnecessary travel.
“In Kelantan, a pregnant woman tested positive for Covid-19 when she went for a regular health check at a government clinic,” Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told a daily briefing on the virus in Putrajaya today.
He said the patient, who is 25 weeks’ pregnant and from Ampang, wanted to give birth in her hometown.
“She was from a red zone in Ampang and went to her hometown, which was a green zone.”
He repeated a warning against people travelling back to their hometowns without a good reason.
Dr Noor Hisham said it is not a must for Malaysians returning from or going back to their hometowns to undergo testing for the virus, unless they have symptoms.
“Only outstation travellers who have symptoms need to go to hospitals for testing.”
The ministry today reported 31 new coronavirus cases, 10 of them being Malaysians returning from abroad. Of the other infections, 10 are transmission from foreigners.
Another 60 patients have been discharged, taking recoveries to 5,706 of the country’s total 7,009 cases.
The death toll remains 114. – May 20, 2020.
