TWENTY-SEVEN Bersatu supreme council members and state chiefs have rebutted party chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s claim that the council never approved the decision to leave Pakatan Harapan (PH).
In their joint statement, 20 council members, some of whom are also state chiefs, and seven other state chiefs, said the decision was made at the supreme council meeting on February 23.
“This decision was clear and should not be disputed,” they said.
The 20 supreme council members who endorsed the statement do not include those aligned to Dr Mahathir, such as youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and A. Kadir Jasin.
There are 28 supreme council members according to Bersatu’s website, including Dr Mahathir and party president Muhyiddin Yassin, who did not sign the statement.
“We fully support the formation of Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a coalition of political parties with the agenda of and purpose as stated in the memorandum of understanding (MOU).
“For the sake of the people’s prosperity and the country’s political stability, we agree that Bersatu should join PN,” the statement added.
The MOU referred to is the document affirming PN’s formation for the purpose of, among others, to administer and manage the government at the federal and state levels.
The heads of parties in PN issued a statement on the MOU on Sunday, the day before the one-day Parliamentary sitting yesterday.
Dr Mahathir has been saying that the February 23 supreme council meeting never agreed that the party should leave PH, and that Muhyiddin instead gave him as chairman the full mandate to make the decision.
However, Muhyiddin and Bersatu MPs on the same day, met with BN, PAS and rogue PKR leaders to form a new coalition.
The statement by the supreme council members today also affirmed their “undivided support for the PN government under the leadership of Bersatu president, Muhyiddin Yassin”. – May 19, 2020.

And why were you snakes scheming illegally in a "pre-meeting" that didn't even invite your Chairman and was guiltily called off at the last minute?
I think BerDua in its current form is the worst party in Malaysia.
