VIRUS-INFECTED traders in the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang spread the disease to market workers elsewhere, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“We believe that the workers attended the tabligh event in Sri Petaling and then infected others at the market,” said the director-general of health today at a daily press briefing on the Covid-19 crisis, in Putrajaya.
“The total number of cases in the Selayang market is 74 but 13 of them (work) in other markets.”
He said traders from other areas were infected when they visited the Selayang market to buy produce.
“This is what happened in Bahau, where 60 traders were affected, as well as in other markets in Taman Megah, Jalan Othman and Chow Kit,” said Noor Hisham.
Several areas in Selayang and northern Kuala Lumpur were placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) on April 25 following the detection of coronavirus cases at the wholesale market last week. – April 28, 2020.
