SIX parcels of land in Selayang Baru and Gombak are the latest areas to be placed under an enhanced movement control order (ECMO) from today to May 3 to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The six areas will be under total lockdown to enable contact tracing and testing of people there for the coronavirus, he said.
“Following the advice from the health minister, the government has decided to place Selayang Baru and Gombak under the EMCO from today until May 3,” he told his daily press conference in Putrajaya.
Northern Kuala Lumpur and the areas surrounding the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market in Selayang have been under EMCO since Monday following an outbreak of the coronavirus.
That operation saw eight parcels of land in the area fall under total lockdown.
The lockdown in Selayang Baru and Gombak today is the seventh EMCO ordered under the advice of the Health Ministry.
The areas placed under the EMCO are:
Zon A: Jalan Indah 3 and Jalan Indah 5A, Selayang Indah, Gombak, Selangor
Zon B: Jalan Indah 21, Lembah Indah, Selayang Baru, Gombak, Selangor
Zon C: Jalan Besar Selayang Baru, Jalan 1 and Jalan Indah 21, Selayang Baru, Gombak, Selangor
Zon D: Jalan 3, 5, 7 and 9, Selayang Baru, Gombak, Selangor
Zon E: Jalan 2, 4, 6 and 8, Selayang Baru, Gombak, Selangor
Zon F: Blok A, B and C, Selayang Makmur, Gombak, Selangor
“We ask all residents to remain calm and give their full cooperation to Health Ministry. We don’t want anyone to leave the area as this can cause the virus to spread,” Ismail Sabri said.
He added residents who need assistance or have questions can contact the district MCO operations room at 03-6120 1092 or the Gombak district police headquarters at 03-6126 2247.
Other areas under EMCO are Simpang Renggam in Johor and the Menara City One, Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion buildings in the Masjid India area in Kuala Lumpur.
The EMCO for Hulu Langat was lifted on April 14. – April 25, 2020.
