BLOOD donors are allowed to go to hospitals and health clinics to donate blood from 10am-10pm during the movement-control order (MCO), said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This is due to shortage at blood banks, the senior minister said.

“The National Security Council (NSC) was told that blood supply at the National Blood Bank has gone down 33% since the MCO,” he said during his daily briefing in Putrajaya today.

“The National Blood Bank has applied for permission to operate and for donors to be allowed to go to donate,” he added.

Meanwhile, 606 people were arrested for breaking the MCO yesterday compared to the 577 arrested the previous day.

“556 were remanded while 50 were released on police bail,” said Ismail Sabri.

He said the total number of arrests since MCO started was 20,617 (as of April 26).

In his daily report, Ismail Sabri said the police conducted 829 roadblocks and checked 377,623 vehicles yesterday.

He said there were also 35,346 surprise checks involving 6,131 premises. – April 27, 2020.
