PAS’s own studies show that it can win the 40 parliamentary seats it’s aiming for, even if it faces both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, said president Abdul Hadi Awang.
This is despite other surveys by think-tanks, such as Invoke and Ilham Centre, which showed that the Islamist party will lose heavily or even garner the least amount of votes if it goes up against BN
or PH.
Hadi said PAS’s studies showed that it will see an increase in support, votes and members in all these 40 areas, all of which will likely be contested by parties from PH and BN.
“We have our own think-tanks to conduct studies on our own. We do not rely on random telephone calls but on our nationwide machinery.
“We also compare our results with others,” Hadi told reporters at the end of the party’s 63rd muktamar in Alor Star, Kedah, today.
“The party will make good strides forward as our members will increase and support will increase. That is the most important,” Hadi said on the results of the studies.
“God willing, we can win in these areas,” Hadi said when asked on the party’s chances in the 40 parliamentary seats.
PAS’s assembly saw the party reinforcing its plans to lead a third opposition bloc called Gagasan Sejahtera together with little-known Parti Ikatan Bangsa.
PAS has said the bloc will not cooperate with either PH or BN and was prepared to meet them in the 14th general election. – May 1, 2017.
