HEALTH Minister Dr Adham Baba today said he misspoke when he remarked that the World Health Organisation (WHO) was comprised of “500 countries”.

“I mistakenly said 500 countries – what I meant was 500 participants from all around the world, ” he told English-language daily The Star.

The Tenggara MP was ridiculed on social media after the clip where he made the remark during a live stream chat with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was circulated on social media.

Adham had said he was confident that what he had done as minister in the fight against Covid-19 was recognised globally.

“I have had video conferences with the WHO (World Health Organisation), I did a live video conference with the health ministers from China, Singapore and also a live conference with Asean ministers,” he said.

“I have done video conferences with the WHO, (and) 500 countries,” he told the Umno president.

Social media users ridiculed the remark as only 195 countries are recognised by the United Nations. – April 19, 2020.
