MORE pictures of political leaders flouting the movement control order (MCO) are coming to the fore, the latest being that of Deputy Rural Development Minister Abdul Rahman Mohamad.
Pictures of Rahman allegedly celebrating his birthday were uploaded on Facebook on April 13, with screenshots of the post being widely shared on social media.
In the Facebook post, his followers wished him a “Happy Birthday” and hopes for a prosperous life.
One of the pictures showed a group of visitors coming to visit him with a cake in tow. None of them wore face masks or practised social distancing.
Another picture showed the Umno Lipis MP blowing out candles and cutting the cake.
The Malaysian Insight is attempting to reach Rahman.
Earlier today, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said nobody, including those in government, was above the law, amid furore over a Perikatan Nasional leader who allegedly breached MCO rules.
“Nobody is above the law. I understand that there have been police reports and we will leave it to police to carry out investigations,” he said in Putrajaya today.
However, he did not name any Perikatan Nasional leader.
His remarks follows the surfacing of photos of Deputy Health Minister Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali having a meal with more than a dozen people at a Perak tahfiz school, in breach of a ban on public gatherings.
Berita Harian reported that police will will summon the deputy minister for allegedly flouting the MCO. Perak police chief Razarudin Husain, however, said it appears that all the attendees had observed social distancing rules.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Takiyuddin Hassan had also said that ministers and deputy ministers are not immune under the law if they deliberately flout the MCO.
He had said it was up to the authorities to take appropriate action if it is true that gatherings were deliberately held involving any minister or deputy minister. – April 18, 2020.

This mantra of "special privileges" that has been sung to them like a lullaby since Independence makes them believe laws don't apply to them the way they do to those without "special privileges". Well, as is said "you shall reap what you sow"!
