THE Association for Community and Dialogue would like to condemn the intention and statement by PAS secretary-general that all MPs not holding government position to be made GLC heads.
This is in contrast to statement made in Parliament by PAS MPs before, that GLCs should not be control by politicians.
Now it seems that PAS is in cohort in a coalition that lacks integrity and this makes Perikatan Nasional (PN) a coalition of desperate elite interest who will do whatever it takes to stay in power even though such actions goes against the common good of all Malaysians.
It obvious that the PN coalition who claims to safeguard the interest of its ethno-religious community is not capable of distinguishing between right and wrong when it comes to consolidating power.
It picks and chooses its actions based on its politics of power rather than universal ethics of good governance.
There are two principle vision that needs to be taken into consideration before the planned appointment of MPs as head of GLCs.
Firstly, MPs are elected by the people to voice their aspirations in the political and social economic realm.
They are not elected by the people to sit on business establishment. Business entities should be run by competent professionals who are business savvy.
Since there is distinction in this aspect and was part of reform struggle which the current Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and senior minister Mohamed Azmin Ali were part of, the question is why such practices are still in consideration?
Is it to control the resources of the GLCs in times of economic downturn where a lot of cash is needed to splash to the political warlords of Umno, Bersatu and PAS who would need such cash for the next general election?
Is this not the 1MDB type thinking that cash is king has emerged?
Secondly, it is obvious that PN has a questionable majority in Parliament, and giving some disgruntled MPs positions, especially from Umno would help consolidate support for the backdoor government.
This means that PN is coalition that represents elite interest rather than people interest. It has to expand its wings has much has it can even though at the expense of drying up the national coffers and profiteering from the monopolies of the GLCs.
Is this the principle vision that the nation needs currently as we are talking about moving towards a develop nation where resources are rationally channel to potential and productive sectors?
The nation is going through a twin crisis of Covid-19 and economic depression and the concern of MPs now is to ensure basic necessities such food are there and to reach out to the poor and middle class in assessing and addressing their social economic issues.
There is a need for innovative and revolutionary ideas to revive the economy in the respective constituencies and ensure that social justice is the core of which their activities emanates.
It is not the interest of rakyat for MPs to sit on boards of GLCs and control resources and receive allowance in fields in which they are not elected for in the first place.
Therefore, the Association for Community and Dialogue would like to urge MPs to rejects such offers to sit on GLCs as matter of conscience.
The common people interest should be the priority. Perikatan National should not become a coalition of elite interest. – April 13, 2020.

As I said many times before, they joined politics as "skim cepat kaya", by hook or by crook, but NOT as a service to the nation. They are "losers" in the private sector, and would probably ended up as fishermen (as one admitted) or similar occupations.
Consequently, they have no conscience or principles, only self interest, and would try their utmost to be on the winning side as to enjoy wealth, position, prestige and power.
Mahathir understood this very well. He tried to increase his and Bersatu's power through defections. IMO he might have objected to the "anti-hopping law", if PH had ever intended to table. (It was implemented in Penang state.) Instead, it blew up on his and PH's face. Karma?
Having these morons heading GLCs will have dire consequences, as if the current troubles at certain GLCs are not enough.
I predicted Malaysia will be bankrupt by 2030 (and I hope I am wrong). However, most likely, it will be sooner with these unethical, corrupted, me-first idiots in charge, low oil price, current worldwide health crisis and soon to be unemployment and financial crises.
