Hadi made special envoy to Middle East

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has been appointed special envoy to the Middle East with the rank of minister.

In a statement today, the Prime Minister’s Office said Muhyiddin Yassin agreed to the Marang MP’s appointment to the post.

“Hadi is former vice-president of the International Union for Muslim Scholars.

“He was listed among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world in the category of preachers and spiritual guides by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre based in Jordan in 2016.”

Hadi holds a bachelor’s degree in shariah from Islamic University of Madinah and a master’s degree in political science from Egypt’s Al-Azhar University.

He served as Terengganu menteri besar from 1999 to 2004. – Bernama, April 2, 2020.
