A TRAVEL agency has not been able to serve a summons to Mohamed Azmin Ali’s children for a civil suit over their failure to settle RM390,000 in bills.
YHA Travel & Tours last November filed the suit against the former minister and his children for failing to pay for private family holidays to Morocco, England, Indonesia, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand, Spain and Greece.
YHA lawyer Adam Yap told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today that he is still unable to serve the writ of summons to Azmin’s children, namely Farah Shazliyana, 29; Farah Afifah, 24; Farah Amira, 26; and, Mohamed Ameer Shazrin, 28.
Yap did not state in open court the reason the four could not be served.
Judge Nur Lailatul Zuraida fixed March 25 for further case management.
Last month, lawyers for the travel agency said they had been unable to serve Azmin’s children a statement of claim naming them as defendants in the suit.
Azmin also made trips to Sandakan for the Sabah constituency’s by-election last May, among other arrangements yet to be paid for.
YHA is demanding that the former PKR deputy president pay RM328,901, in addition to interest and other damages to be assessed.
The company said it sent a letter of demand to Azmin on August 27 last year and another on September 30, but received no response.
Azmin has said he will settle any fees owed if the claims are proven true.
“I have not seen the writ of summons. I have asked my officers to look into it and check with the travel agency,” he told reporters last November. – March 6, 2020.
