TWO pro-Umno newspapers, Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian, have gone to town splashing the lifestyle of top government critic Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s granddaughter on their front pages.

Under the headline “Meera Alyana Mukriz’s celebrity lifestyle”, Utusan’s Sunday edition, Mingguan Malaysia said that Meera Alyana Mukhriz lived a celebrity’s lifestyle by wearing designer clothes and spent time travelling around the world on a luxury yacht.

The paper said the article was based on a Facebook posting by a user called “Sudahlah Mahathir”.

Utusan said Meera’s lavish lifestyle had caught the attention of social media users.

The Umno-owned newspaper said Meera, better known as Ally, travelled around the world in a boat named after her. Utusan claimed the boat was given to her by her father, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir.

“Her (Meera) life is the envy of many women in the country. This proves that former prime minister Dr Mahathir’s granddaughter is only human and is unable to resist the allures of a princess’ and celebrity lifestyle,” said Utusan.

Similarly on Berita Harian’s front page article titled “The luxurious life of Dr Mahathir’s granddaughter”, the paper splashed pictures of Meera and her younger sister Melia Serena on a boat with another friend.

The article claimed that a Facebook posting had 14 photographs featuring Meera and a boat named Princess Alyanna.

Berita Harian also highlighted some of the Facebook comments on the posting. Among them were: “This luxurious life is fit for a king,” “this is the result of robbing the country,” and “do you think this family cares about the people?”

“Are the people being used to regain control because they are not satisfied with the wealth they have gotten from the country?” was another comment on the Facebook posting.

According to Berita Harian, the “Sudahlah Mahathir” post said: “This collection of pictures has set aside all the personal images and somewhat obscene because the admin did not want to attack their morals and but wealth.”

The paper said that the collection of pictures posted on Facebook was taken from the accounts of Dr Mahathir’s two grandchildren. – November 12, 2017.

  • Umno media and bloggers are really bankrupt of ideas and shallow in their approach of political warfare. When you are focusing on one of the Umno critic's do not forget there are plentiful and variations of counter attacks to the Unmo herds where the plundering and robbing are big in scales and numbers involved. One silly single ridiculing on a unrelevant victim will only open up and free for all exposure of the stinking rubbish in the retard Umno herds pandora box. It is pre ordained that Umno days are numbered.

  • Wow, are people really keeping a blind eye when it comes to Tun M? He is by no means an angel, two wrongs DOES NOT make a right. Do people really believe he was clean during his regime? Come on, there were so many scandals during his time too. There was rampant cronyism and nepotism going on back then, the ISA was out of control to keep everyone's mouths SHUT. Do you believe he and his family's tremendous wealth were gotten CLEANLY? Let's be honest with ourselves ya, even now they're going for the Petron and San Miguel contracts in Malaysia. It is a FACT that they too have ill-gotten wealth the rakyat's coffers. It is our duty to remain vigilant, and do not play dumb when ANY corruption happens. We don't want Najib's kleptocracy to repeat itself, it doesn't matter WHO or which politician it is, even if it's the one that you're supporting. IF they are dirty, then THROW them out and ELECT a new one. Don't keep electing the same people from the same families, that's establishing a dynasty. That is NOT Meritocracy, that is not Democracy. That is promoting Elitism and Hereditary Castes.
