Another 2 coronavirus cases in Malaysia


THE Health Ministry has announced two more Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, bringing the national tally to 25.

The new cases are a 41-year-old Japanese woman who works here and a 54-year-old Italian man married to a local.

Yesterday, the ministry announced the country’s 23rd case of infection after a week without new cases.

That patient is a 53-year-old local woman who recently travelled to Japan.

The first 22 coronavirus patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery.

The virus, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has spread to dozens of other countries, with New Zealand, Lithuania and Belarus among the nations confirming their first cases today.

Nigeria, too, registered its first infection – the first coronavirus patient in sub-Saharan Africa.

South Korea today reported 256 new cases, taking its total – the highest in the world outside China – to 2,022.

The disease has killed 2,788 people and infected 78,824 in China alone. – February 28, 2020.
