THE fight for reform will continue, said PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, amid speculation that a faction aligned to him in the party are set to quit it.

“God willing, we will continue the fight and agenda for Reformation (Reformasi), and to develop the nation and bring prosperity to all Malaysians,” he told reporters after a dinner attended by MPs on both sides of the political divide tonight.

The gathering at the hotel in Petaling Jaya was the culmination of day in which a slew of meetings among political parties took place, with talk rife that they are part of plans for a new federal government.

He said this after a meeting with other PKR leaders, namely Saifuddin Abdullah, Zuraida Kamaruddin and Mohd Rashid Hasnon.

However, Azmin kept mum on reports of a possible dissolution of Pakatan Harapan and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s confirmation that Bersatu and a PKR faction have betrayed the ruling pact and is set on toppling it.

The PKR faction aligned to Azmin held the dinner in Petaling Jaya as rumours swirled on the formation of a new coalition and federal government.

PKR MPs who attended the dinner include Nibong Tebal MP Mansor Othman, Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin, Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin, Segamat MP Edmund Santhara Kumar and  Saratok MP Ali Biju.

Federal ministers and Bersatu leaders, such as Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Entrepreneur Development Minister Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and Deputy Foreign Minister Marzuki Yahya were also present.

Umno and PAS MPs were also at the gathering. – February 23, 2020.

  • Azmin Ali talking about reform? My foot. Listening to this semburit guy makes me one to puke. Attempting to take over a government which is elected by the Rakyat via the backdoor is certainly not a reform action.

  • He is the catalyst of the current political imbroglio and uncertainty and the rakyat will remember his betrayal of democratic principles at the next elections. Whatever he says is not worth the air he breathes.
