UMNO is waiting for an indication from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad on a possible new ruling coalition, said party secretary-general Annuar Musa.

He also hinted that this could spell an end to Pakatan Harapan.

However, he dismissed notions that Umno will join Bersatu, but would merely form a coalition with it.

“Very likely,” he said to questions on whether a new coalition will be formed.

“There are procedures, let’s not jump the gun,” he added.

On when this will this unfold, Annuar said it depends on the prime minister and Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“We will remain as one party (and) very much in a bloc,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also hinted that they had the numbers in Parliament to form a new government.

On collaborating with PAS, he said Umno and PAS have been working together for five decades.

Annuar also said the chief ministers of Sabah and Sarawak, Mohamad Shafie Apdal and Abang Johari Openg, who head Warisan and GPS respectively, had met with the prime minister.

He said the two leaders were also at Istana Negara earlier. – February 23, 2020.
