Pakatan to stay on, no need to panic, says Mat Sabu

AMANAH sees no need to panic and hold meetings to discuss allegations of a new government being formed, said Mohamad Sabu.

The Amanah president is confident the Pakatan Harapan government will continue to function as usual, calling the audience that opposition leaders had with the the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as something normal.

“Anyone can make all sorts of speculations. Dr Mahathir meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is nothing unusual.

“We do not need hold meetings. There is no need to panic. PH will continue to function,” he told reporters in Penang.

At the time of the Mohamad’s press conference it was widely believed the prime minister was having an audience with the Agong but since then his officials have said he did not.

Mohamad was asked to comment on speculations of a new government being set up with the opposition.

Rumours have cropped up following a slew of meetings that took place today involving government and opposition parties.

Bersatu this afternoon held a meeting for six hours, with Dr Mahathir or other leaders leaving without speaking to the media.

The PKR faction aligned to deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali is currently huddled at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya as more opposition MPs join in.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, on the other hand, summoned the party supreme council for a special meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre but cut it short for an audience with the King. – February 23, 2020
