PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today said she will respond to a show-cause letter issued by her party’s disciplinary board in due time

She, however, did not want to disclose the reason behind the letter.

“I will respond to the issues raised but at the moment, I can’t say what those issues are.

“What is important is that all that I said at Renaissance (hotel) is the truth,” she told reporters this morning after distributing mandarin oranges in her constituency, Ampang.

Zuraida, who is also housing and local government minister, was accompanied by PKR deputy president and Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

She has dismissed calls by the party’s 10 state chiefs, who called for her to be sacked immediately for breaching party discipline.

“Let others entertain them. That’s not my standard. I will face the disciplinary board and I hope they will carry out their duties.

“We know influences of the party leadership and even in that situation, I’m sure they will give me a fair judgement.”

Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Zuraida had been served a show-cause letter but did not specify the complaint against her.

Zuraida has 14 days from Friday to provide an explanation for her recent actions, Saifuddin said after the PKR central leadership committee meeting yesterday.

“She has 14 days to explain. After that, the disciplinary board will decide on the next course of action.

“This comes under the responsibility of the disciplinary board under chairman Ahmad Kassim.”

Her case was among the complaints referred to the disciplinary board at the meeting yesterday.

However, Saifuddin said he was not privy to the report on Zuraida when pressed by reporters. – January 19, 2020.
