OF the 17 people – one of whom is an assemblyman – arrested in a raid on a condominium in Jalan Puchong early yesterday, only one tested negative for drugs, said Abdul Hamid Bador.

The inspector-general of police said a small amount of ketamine was found in the condo unit, and the people inside were “high” when officers entered.

“All but one tested positive for drugs. A second screening will be conducted soon,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman this evening.

“Police received a noise complaint about 4.40am on Sunday. Upon arrival at the scene, officers heard loud music, and the people (in the unit) were all high on drugs.

“(The suspects) were taken to a police station. They were released after having their statements recorded.

“We are still investigating to determine who owns the unit, and if it is frequently used as a ‘spot’.”

Brickfields police raided the condo unit, which is registered as a business, after receiving the noise complaint.

Earlier, there was speculation that the assemblyman is Dengkil’s Adhif Syan Abdullah after a photo of him and a message saying he was arrested at an entertainment centre in Damansara about 1.30am today were shared online.

Adhif, who is also a Selangor Bersatu youth leader, denied this, telling Malaysiakini that he was home at the time of the alleged incident.

However, he told Berita Harian this afternoon that he was at the condo unit to attend a meeting.

Hamid refused to name the individuals arrested.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, however, said Adhif was among those detained.

“I have been informed about the case involving YB Adhif Syan and several other individuals who were arrested by police in a raid early yesterday.

“I am leaving it to police to conduct investigations. I will not interfere in this case, and the authorities are to take action as provided for by the law.” – January 13, 2020.
