DENGKIL assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah has admitted to being at the “wrong place at the wrong time” while denying he was arrested after being tested positive for drugs according to Berita Harian.

He told the Malay-language news portal that he had gone to the condominium to attend a discussion and did not do anything wrong.

“I cannot make any comments on the issue because it is under investigation. I have been advised not to do so.

“I can say that I was at the wrong place at the wrong time… But I wish to stress that I am on the side of truth,” he told News Straits Times Press reporters at his home in Puchong today.

Police sources this morning confirmed speculation that a Selangor Bersatu assemblyman was arrested in a raid on a private party at a condominium on Jalan Puchong on early yesterday morning.

A total of 17 people were detained in the 4.40am operation, including an officer of the Youth and Sports Ministry, a Bersatu staffer, as well as an aide to Adhif Syan. All are being held at the Jinjang lock-up.

Police sources confirmed the raid, and said 16 of those arrested tested positive for drugs.

A social media post naming Adhif Syan as the assemblyman had gone viral earlier, but Adhif had denied it to Malaysiakini, saying he was at home at the time of the arrest.

Adhif Syan is also a Selangor Bersatu youth leader.

He also said his remand is the work of those out to sabotage him ahead of party elections.

Adhif Syan said he is baffled as to how the initial report from the police was leaked and circulated.

“I don’t know if there are other quarters who are attempting to play up this issue,” he added.

He said he is not pressured by what happened and will continue carrying out his duties as an assemblyman.

“I extended my cooperation to the police and returned home late yesterday because I helped to facilitate investigations,” he added, maintaining he was not remanded. – January 13, 2020.

  • Well if his urine sample was taken and tested, any trace of drugs would be confirmed present or absent. Only then can he prove he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And this time, no hanky panky and coverups please.
