POLICE and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) will meet today to discuss three hot-button cases involving PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, his deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali and the statutory declaration by Azilah Hadri linking Najib Razak to the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said his department has completed the investigation papers for all three cases and that they will meet the AGC today to discuss the next step.

“Police will meet with the AGC this evening to discuss the three cases. We will then decide on the next course of action.

“This will also include if Anwar will have to take the lie detector or polygraph test,” Huzir told reporters at Bukit Aman today.

Anwar’s former aide, Muhammed Yusoff Rawther last month accused Anwar of sexual impropriety and had taken the polygraph test to help in investigations. Yusoff had accused Anwar of attempting to force him to perform oral sex.

On the report regarding Azmin’s video, Huzir said police had received the analysis from the United States expert at the end of last year, but added there was no necessity to make an announcement.

He said that the report, together with the investigation papers, have been submitted to the AGC.

“The AGC will make a joint statement with the police on the case very soon,” he said.

Last year, a video, which showed two men in bed, went viral after it was shared on several WhatsApp groups. The video was disseminated to journalists who were added to a WhatsApp group by an unknown mobile phone number.

A video purportedly of Haziq Aziz confessing to being Azmin’s partner in the clip was also shared.

Azmin denied this, calling it an attempt to destroy his political career.

As for the SD by Azilah implicating Najib in Altantuya’s murder, Huzir said they have called up several witnesses.

“Yes, we have called (the witnesses),” he briefly said.

Last year, in an explosive sworn statement dated October 17, death row inmate Azilah said Najib ordered him to kill the 28-year-old Mongolian interpreter. Najib was deputy prime minister then and Azilah a member of his security detail.

Azilah and fellow commando Sirul Azhar Umar were convicted of murdering Altantuya in 2009. They were sentenced to death by the apex court in 2015.

Najib had since gone on to deny that he ordered the murder of Altantuya and even performed the “sumpah laknat” at the Masjid Jamek mosque in Kg Baru. – January 6, 2020.
