TAMBUN MP Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah says a change in the country can only happen under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Razak and Barisan Nasional.
“We are talking about 60 years (of progress),” said Ahmad Husni who was Second Finance Minister before his resignation on June 27 last year.
“We want changes for the future.”
He said the Najib administration has been making strides especially in its effort to stamp out corruption.
“We want zero corruption and I see that efforts are being made and some people had been detained in government’s bid to combat corruption.
“When I was in the government, I said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should part of committees and placed at ministries.
He also said Najib when steps down from his post in the future, he will be leaving a legacy of a country free from corruption.
His remarks were met with laughter from the opposition MPs in Parliament.
He told the MPs not to laugh and warned them to not follow six “horses” (opposition leaders under Pakatan Harapan).
“Do not follow six horses. Why? Because if we talk about one party with six leaders, it has six different mindsets. It cannot unite,” he said.
He was believed to be referring to leaders of the opposition parties under Pakatan Harapan, namely Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Muhyiddin Yassin, Lim Kit Siang, Mohamad Sabu, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Anwar Ibrahim.
Ahmad Husni added that he knows Dr Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Anwar better than anyone else as he served with them while still in the government.
“Do you know Dr Mahathir? I know him. I know what happened with Pos Malaysia, Perwaja. Do you think he will listen to you?
“Do you know Muhyiddin? You don’t know. I know him. Do you know Anwar Ibrahim? I was an Anwar follower. I took him to his house after he was sacked from his ministerial post and I left him after that when I found out that he involved in sodomy.
Ahmad Husni resigned from all of his party posts, including Umno and Barisan Nasional treasurer on June 27.
The former minister also resigned as Tambun Umno division head and several posts in Perak Umno.
The resignations came as Najib announced that Ahmad Husni informed him of his wish to retire.
“So I respect that, he is quite ready to retire,” Najib told a press conference.
Ahmad Husni said his resignation was “a calling from God” and denied that his decision was linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal. – November 1, 2017.
