RM28.5 million govt allocation to fix urban B40 folk’s homes

PUTRAJAYA has allocated RM28.5 million to repair the dilapidated homes of poor urban folk next year, up from the RM15 million set aside for the purpose this year.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad Baharuddin Shah told the Dewan Negara today that the increased funding is in line with the government’s commitment to eradicate poverty, which is on the list of Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

He was replying to Senator Abdul Ghani Mohamed Yassin, who asked about the ministry’s strategy to address the problem of B40 folk living in dilapidated homes in urban areas.

To a supplementary question by Senator Muhamad Mustafa on ways to sign up for the home repair programme, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah said applications can be made via the eKasih portal. – Bernama, December 11, 2019.
