No one in the family is aware of the sexual attack, says Yusoff’s relative

Muhammed Yusoff Rawther has not told anyone in his family of an alleged sexual assault against him by a senior PKR leader, says his granduncle Mohideen Abdul Kader. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 4, 2019.

MUHAMMED Yusoff Rawther’s family was not informed of the alleged sexual misconduct against him by a top PKR leader last year, said a family member today.

“The incident is supposed to have taken place on October 2, 2018, more than one year ago. Yet none of our family members, including his grandfather, who was very close to him, was told about this alleged incident,” said Mohideen Abdul Kader in a statement today.

Mohideen is the brother of the late activist SM Mohamed Idris, who was Yusoff’s grandfather.

Mohideen also said Yusoff has been estranged from the family since his grandfather passed away early this year.

He added that Yusoff had also not mentioned this sexual attack against him in the police report he had lodged last year over an assault.

“Coming more than one year after the alleged incident, and two days before the PKR conference, I believe that Yusoff has been manipulated by some politicians to serve their own interests.

“I thought we had left behind the politics of sodomy with the arrival of Malaysia Baru but, sadly, it keeps cropping up again and again. I am confident that Malaysians will reject such gutter politics,” said Mohideen.

Earlier today, Yusoff, a former research officer in the PKR president’s office from September 2018 to May 2019, alluded that a sexual offence had been perpetrated against him by a senior PKR leader last year.

“I can only describe the matter as unIslamic, vile, insidious, morally repugnant and criminal in nature,” he said in a statement that he read out in a press conference today.

He also said that he had outlined the full details of the incident that transpired, attached with all the necessary and relevant evidence, in a statutory declaration (SD).

The SD is currently going viral on social media.

Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador had dismissed the claims, saying that they were “feeble effort to tarnish the party image”.

He said it was the work of an unhappy ex-member making a fuss because he has been sidelined.

He also said that Yusoff was sacked for indiscipline. – December 4, 2019.

  • The hiring process needs to be tightened. Looks like any Yusoff, Saiful, Ah Chong or Muthu can be hired and have a working relationship with our politicians. So dont be surprised when things like this occur.
