PERAK PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador has dismissed claims made by a former party staff that he was subjected to an “unIslamic and vile” crime last year.
Farhash said in a statement that Muhammed Yusoff Rawther’s claims are a “feeble effort to tarnish the party image”.
He said it is the work of an unhappy ex-member making a fuss because he has been sidelined.
Earlier today, Yusoff, a former research officer in the president’s office from September 2018 to May 2019, alluded that a sexual offence had been perpetrated against him by a senior PKR leader last year.
“I can only describe the matter as unIslamic, vile, insidious, morally repugnant and criminal in nature,” he said in a statement that he read out in a press conference today.
He also said that he had outlined the full details of the incident that transpired, attached with all the necessary and relevant evidence, in a statutory declaration (SD).
The SD is currently going viral on social media.
Yusoff said he had been physically assaulted by Farhash on May 16, possibly as a result of the incident.
He said he had lodged a police report over the assault and filed a civil suit against his assailants.
“Unfortunately and disappointingly, the authorities have failed to take action on the above mentioned matter.
“I would like to state on record here that the defendants in my suit have on more than one occasion offered to settle this matter out of court.
“I would like to stress here that my pursuit is not motivated by any form monetary senses but I would like justice to be meted out.
“The assault in my working environment is not normal or acceptable and I have since discovered that it is likely related to other incidents that occurred to me,” he said.
Farhash, meanwhile, said Yusoff’s press conference today was masterminded by sacked PKR leader Badrul Hisham Saharin @ Chegubard.
He also said that Yusoff was sacked for indiscipline.
Yusoff is the grandson of the late SM Mohamed Idris, who led the Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) for many years and was also a close friend of Anwar, he added.
“This is a clear example of someone out to seek vengeance and willing to let himself be manipulated and used to fulfil his own agenda,” said Farhash. – December 4, 2019.
