MOHAMED Azmin Ali should explain the meeting he held with Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmakers at his official residence last night, said his party boss Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said the meeting with the BN and a few PKR lawmakers raised questions from the public and they have to be cleared by the economic affairs minister.

“Of course, we will ask for his explanation first because such an incident has raised a lot of questions. So, he should explain,” Anwar told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

BN lawmakers were at Azmin’s home last night for what is believed to be a meeting to stop attempts to force Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad out of office.

Among the MPs were Hishammuddin Hussein. It has been speculated for months that the former Umno vice-president is linked to efforts to get his party men to join Pakatan Harapan.

The meeting at Azmin’s Putrajaya home started about 9.30pm and lasted two hours.

Those who left the house kept mum on what was discussed.

Anwar said he was not sure if Azmin held the meeting in his capacity as minister or PKR official.

“I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking (Azmin) to clarify, whether it was held on party or government’s capacity.

“If it was in government capacity, why other members of parliament were not invited?”

Earlier, PKR’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the political bureau will discuss the matter tomorrow.

Anwar said Azmin should be present at tomorrow’s meeting, to clear the air over what transpired between him and the BN lawmakers. – November 19, 2019.

  • It is very unfortunate that people under the same flag has a different dream. Azmin's fate in PKR does not look anymore promising.
