Call fresh elections, Ismail Sabri tells Pakatan

THE government should dissolve Parliament and call fresh elections as it has lost the people’s confidence, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob a day after Pakatan Harapan’s thumping defeat in Tanjung Piai.

The opposition leader said the by-election was a referendum on the ruling pact, and its result showed that the people reject PH.

“If the government is truly sensitive towards the people’s voice, it has no other choice than to dissolve Parliament.

“Let the people decide the country’s future,” he said in a Facebook post.

The Umno vice-president said PH lost the Johor federal seat despite making numerous promises and giving out allocations during its campaign.

“PH ministers made all kinds of sweet promises to the people of Tg Piai, but they no longer believe in PH.

“It is enough to be lied to once; they are not willing to be lied to again.”

He said Tg Piai folk’s sentiment is not unique to the constituency, but shared by Malaysians nationwide.

Ismail Sabri added that PH was also rejected in three earlier by-elections – Cameron Highlands, Semenyih and Rantau.

“The message is clear. The people no longer believe in PH’s ability to lead the country.”

Last night, Barisan Nasional’s Wee Jeck Seng was declared the winner of the Tg Piai contest with a 15,086-vote majority.

The MCA man got 25,466 votes, while his closest competition, PH’s Karmaine Sardini, polled 10,380.

Gerakan’s Wendy Subramaniam won 1,707 votes, Berjasa’s Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz (850), and independents Ang Chuan Lock (380) and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar (32).

The by-election was called following the death of Dr Md Farid Md Rafik, 42, on September 21 due to heart complications. He had won the seat for PH in last year’s 14th general election. – November 17, 2019.

  • This is the problem created by those so-called Tg. Piai angry voters.
They are shooting their own feet now by giving their support to a puppet controlled by the racist people!
Just think of what happened after a thief stole a mobile phone at Lawyat!
This moron hated not only by the rational people but also the beautiful turtle stirred up racial hatred and nearly started racial unrest!
A big Thank you very much to Tg. Piai voters

  • Ismail, why not you vacate your seat to pave way for by election to test if you still have the support of the rakyat?
Better yet why not all oppositions resign enbloc to prove you have no confidence in the present govt. So the rakyat can decide. If you win back all the seat than PH will resign.

  • Based on your logic, if PH got landslide instead, all BN & PAS reps should resign?

  • The Chinese just wants to show their displeasure and sent a message nothing more and nothing less, now lets ask ourselves would the Chinese really want to back MCA and BN in the next GE?? No doubt winning by elections gives BN the bragging rights and to me that's about it cause down right BN is nothing but a corrupted assholes who has ruined the country.
