PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad described the dissatisfaction of all communities in the country as a good sign as it is proof that the government treated every request fairly.

He acknowledged there are racial issues that has not been resolved but said the main focus should be on the needs of the nation.

“It is not possible for us to solve all the demands of all the races. When we find that all races are not satisfied, it means that we served the rakyat well.

“If we want to please one race, another will be dissatisfied. So all races do not get what they want, but the country benefits as a whole when we are all united,” he said at a press conference in Pekan Nenas today.

The prime minister was commenting on the concerns of the Chinese over the issue of recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

Dr Mahathir said the government has yet to receive a final report from Unified Examination Certificate Task Force (PPDUEC), which was due last month.

In addition, the Chinese community has also criticised finance minister Lim Guan Eng, who approved RM1 million to MCA-owned Tunku Abdul Rahman University (Utar).

Dr Mahathir also denied allegations by Barisan Nasional that Pakatan Harapan used the race card when campaigning in the Tg Piai by-election.

“BN plays with racist sentiments. At first they tried to talk of a race, the so-called (combined) Muslim-Malays, but when they ask people to vote, their candidate is not a Muslim.

“They only talk of wanting to help the Malays, but that is not possible. In Malaysia, an elected representative has to represent all races,” he said.

The Langkawi MP also said Umno and MCA only cooperated to win the by-election when they disagreed on other matters.

“That’s not sincere, it’s hypocritical. In front of the Malays, they act like warriors. When you come here, it’s not about Malays, it’s only about the importance of trying to win an election. They say one thing but do another,” he said.

The Tg Piai by-election was called following the death of Md Farid Md Rafik, 42, on September 21 due to heart complications.

The contest for the Tg Piai parliamentary seat will be a six-way fight between PH, BN, Gerakan, Berjasa and two independents. Polling is on Saturday. – November 14, 2019.

  • What stupid standard to use? When all races are not happy, govt is fair? When leaders are not competent to analyse facts and truth of the situation , he would not be able to provide solutions that can satisfy all sectors based on true statistic and fair need and expectation. It is totally wrong to say that govt is fair when all are not happy. When u aim to achieve non-satisfaction by all races, how can u achieve expected or due satisfaction to the people? Its plan to fail.

  • Is Mahathir for real? When things are fair, it means there is a perception of fairness. If everyone is angry at the "fairness", what the heck are you talking about? He has truly lost the plot

  • This must be a case of senility. This is the kind of lunatic reasoning that is running the country. The biggest mistake is to have appointed a PM who only supports 1 race. While DR M supports Naik ( Known Terrorist, who hates Jews and America), supports ISIS & Al Qaeda and is religious intolerant against Hindus, Christians on the one hand pandering up one section of Islamists, he neglect to rebuke china who has thousands of Muslims detained in camps. China is needed so principles fly out of the window. We have a PM who works for Malays, Muslims who SUPPORT him. DR M does not realize that it is not races that are unhappy with his policies, across the board-Malays, Chinese , Indians and the indigenous community are UNHAPPY. We want Anwar who will unite Malaysians as 1 nation. The way things are going-the Malay, we know is being diluted into a Pakistani, Bangladesh concoction with Arab character. The wonderful Malay culture is being erased-a genocide in quiet.
