A VOTE for Wee Jeck Seng is a vote for Najib Razak, said Pakatan Harapan strategist Liew Chin Tong as he attempts to sway Tg Piai voters away from the Barisan Nasional candidate.
Liew told this to a mostly Chinese crowd in Pekan Nenas as PH attempts to dent the popularity of Wee, a local boy and former two-term MP for the seat.
In the 14th general election, Wee lost the Tg Piai seat by only 524 votes to PH’s Md Farid Md Rafik.
“Wee Jeck Seng is Najib’s representative. If Wee wins, it’s Najib who wins. Najib is the real candidate,” Liew, who is deputy defence minister said, referring to the scandal-ridden former prime minister.
Najib, who is on trial for fraud and embezzlement in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd state firm, visited the constituency on Friday, endorsing Wee as BN’s candidate.
Wee is facing five other candidates in the November 16 by-election but his biggest rival is PH’s Karmaine Sardini.
Liew, of PH component party, DAP, also took aim at one of BN’s campaign planks which is to strengthen the voice of the opposition in Parliament.
Opposition parties, such as BN and ally PAS, control 93 out of 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat.
Liew said unlike PH, which was once in the opposition, BN and PAS currently only used racially charged rhetoric to criticise the government.
“When we were in the opposition, we would use our time in Parliament to come up with alternative budgets to compare how we would public funds if we were in power. We had substantial debates.
“But the opposition now is only interested in attacking us using race and religion. We fight on policy but they use race and religion. This is not a good opposition.”
The use of such divisive rhetoric, Liew said, is to divide PH so that BN and PAS can form a government through the backdoor. – November 5, 2019.

Did I forget to mention Kulim Airport? I wonder whose son stands to benefit from that white elephant project?

Maybe someone should parade a banner of Syed Saddiq having makan with ZN at Tg Piau when one of the Pakatan leader is campaigning. Or a banner that asks, Liew, are you Orang Asing?
