CORRUPTION and power abuse is a “serious” problem in Sabah’s education sector, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Sabah deputy commissioner (prevention) Awang Samsul Baharam Bungso said today.

He said the cases included false claims, falsifying documents, and breach of trust.

“Most of their modus operandi is the same, namely falsification of certain documents,” he told reporters after an MACC talk on preventing graft in the education sector in Tawau.

Awang Samsul said support staff, such as clerks, could succumb to bribery and abuse of power.

“Abetting the school authorities is also an offence,” he  said. – Bernama, October 24, 2019.
