Another of Shafie Apdal's brothers detained by MACC


YUSOF Apdal, younger brother of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal, has been reportedly detained in connection to the alleged misappropriation of RM1.5 billion in Sabah.

Yusof, who is Umno’s Lahad Datu assemblyman and Silam Umno chief, was the second brother of Shafie’s to be detained in connection to the case.

Hamid Apdal had been detained on October 10 and had been remanded for five days. His remand was further extended for five days on October 15.

Hamid’s son-in-law, Manzur Hussein Awal Khan, a 37-year-old businessman, has also been remanded by MACC.

It was reported that Yusof was the “Datuk” who was called in for questioning today and was detained around 8pm.

Yusof brought the number of people detained to nine and a total of RM170 million in bank accounts and assets were frozen by the MACC.

Other Warisan leaders detained in connection to the case include Youth chief Azis Jamman, who is now under remand, and vice-president Peter Anthony.

The RM1.5 billion was part of a RM7.5 billion federal allocation for rural development in the state through the Rural and Regional Development Ministry from 2009 to 2015, when Shafie was then the minister in charge. – October 17, 2017.
