DEPUTY Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today urged everyone to stop quibbling over when the handover of the prime minister’s post will take place.
She said the succession plan had been agreed within Pakatan Harapan (PH) and that there are more urgent matters that needed attention in the country.
“It is already agreed upon, there is no need to discuss this,” she said after an event today.
The issue of when Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will hand over power to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim was raised again this week when veteran politician Syed Husin Ali criticised PH for failing to provide clarity in the matter.
Syed Husin also said he did not trust Dr Mahathir will hand over the post to Anwar.
Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had then defended Dr Mahathir and criticised Syed Husin for excessive politicking.
Earlier today, Dr Mahathir said there is no date set for him to hand over the prime minister’s position to Anwar because much work is yet to be done.
Dr Mahathir said it is difficult to set a date as he is not sure when he can complete those tasks.
“We have to study the situation, to fix a specific date. (When) work is (only) half done or not done (at all), it is very difficult.”
PH previously admitted that there was no fixed timeline for the transition. – October 3, 2019.
