PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin is pressing party chief Anwar Ibrahim for a meeting to discuss rapprochement between feuding factions in the party, Malaysiakini reports.

She urged him to be magnanimous and accept her request.

“We want to meet and I think the eighth prime minister should be magnanimous,” she said, in Ampang, Selangor, today..

She said a meeting was necessary because there were sensitive matters to discuss.

Zuraida proposed a meeting to mend ties between PKR president Anwar and his deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali after a sex video implicating the latter led to hostilities between the two men and their followers.

Azmin has denied he is the man in the sex video and called it a plot to destroy his political career. It is speculated that Anwar is involved in such a plot after an aide of his was arrested to facilitate police investigations into the sex video.

Zuraida has several times raised the matter of a reconciliation meeting after Azmin and his camp began missing the weekly political bureau and monthly central leadership council meetings.

Anwar last week dismissed Zuraida’s request, telling her anything she wished to say could be said in the regular meeting.

Zuraida said in today’s report that she would not be attending any party meetings until Anwar agreed to meet her. – September 22, 2019.
